Solar panel cleaning
A layer of dust, ash, or pollen cuts the light before it reaches the cell. Cleaning helps. Cleaning badly cracks glass, forces water into connectors, and puts a person on a wet edge.

What soiling does
Even thin dust reduces output. A patch of dirt on the lower edge of a module can limit a whole string, because cells in series are only as strong as the shaded or soiled part. Bird droppings and leaf mats are worse than ordinary dust because they sit in one place.
After construction nearby, cement dust can bond to the glass. That is a reason to clean sooner, not a reason to scrape.
A safe clean
When
Early morning or late evening, when the glass is cool. Do not throw cold water on glass that has been sitting in the afternoon sun. The shock can crack it.
Water
Use water that does not leave a hard mineral film if you can. A squeegee or a soft pass afterwards reduces spots. Do not flood connectors and junction boxes.
Tools
A soft brush or a microfiber head on a pole, used from a safe standing place. No steel wool, no abrasive powder, no dry rough cloth on gritty glass.
Liquids
Plain water is the default. Do not use harsh chemicals, acids, or a homemade mix and call it approved. If a manufacturer allows a detergent, that permission is in their manual, not in a neighbourhood recipe.
How often
In a dusty season around Indore, a look every few weeks is reasonable, and a clean when the glass is visibly matt. A fixed weekly rule wastes water on a clean week and is too rare after a dust storm.
Dry options
A soft dry brush can lift loose dust where water is scarce. It will not remove bonded dirt, and a gritty brush used dry can scratch. Stop if the glass is not coming clear.
Do not do these
Do not stand on the modules. Do not use a pressure washer aimed into the frame. Do not clean in the rain on a slippery slope. Do not add bathroom acid, vinegar recipes, or detergent 'because someone on a video did'. None of those is a manufacturer approval.
Water use
A pole, a controlled flow, and a second pass use less water than a hose left running. If water is short, clean the worst strings first: the ones you can see are dull, or the ones the inverter shows as weak, if you can read that screen without opening anything.

Cleaning questions
Can I clean panels at noon with cold water?
No. Hot glass and cold water are a cracking risk. Clean when the array is cool.
Is a pressure washer faster?
It is also a way to drive water past gaskets and to blow a person off balance. Do not use one.
Which soap is approved?
Only a product the module manual allows. This page does not approve a homemade mix.
