Commercial rooftop solar

Commercial solar is discussed for buildings that use electricity through the day and have a roof that can be surveyed. A fixed return on investment is not offered.

Commercial solar introduction

This page is for shops, offices, hotels, hospitals, schools, other commercial buildings, and housing societies. The electrical connection and the roof decide the conversation, not the name of the business.

Anvi Solar looks at daytime consumption, the sanctioned load, and whether the local distribution company allows export. We do not promise a payback period.

Business electricity consumption

  • Daytime use

Solar generation follows the sun. A business that uses power in those hours can discuss using more of it on site.

  • Load profile

A load profile is how consumption rises and falls. A bill shows a month. The profile shows the day. Both matter, and neither is guessed from this page.

  • Sanctioned load

The sanctioned load is the connection the distribution company has approved. The proposed system has to respect that connection.

System planning

Planning starts with the roof area that is actually free of shade, equipment, and access paths. It continues with the electrical room, the point of connection, and the protection already on site.

Grid connectivity decides whether an on-grid or hybrid arrangement is even possible. Export, where it is discussed, depends on net metering or another arrangement the distribution company accepts. It is not assumed.

Rooftop requirements

  • Usable area

Only the area that can take modules, structure, and safe access is counted. A satellite view is not a structural approval.

  • Structure and waterproofing

The roof has to carry the array. Penetrations and drainage are reviewed so the building envelope is not treated as an afterthought.

  • Access for maintenance

Someone will need a safe way to inspect and clean the array later. A roof with no safe access is a design problem, not a small inconvenience.

Solar components

The same families of equipment appear as on a home, at the scale the site needs.

  • Modules and structure

Selected for the roof and the electrical design in the quotation.

  • Inverter and protection

A grid-tied or hybrid inverter, with DC and AC protection, earthing, and lightning protection considered for the building.

  • Metering

Import and any permitted export are metered as the distribution company requires. We do not describe that meter as a guaranteed saving.

Installation process

Proposed sequence for a commercial enquiry.

  1. 01

    Enquiry

Share the site, the connection, and how the business uses power.

  2. 02

    Survey

Roof, shade, sanctioned load, and the electrical room are reviewed.

  3. 03

    Proposal

A design and quotation follow. They are specific to the site.

  4. 04

    Installation

The agreed system is installed with the building's operations in mind.

  5. 05

    Utility process and handover

Any net metering or export approval follows the distribution company, then the system is handed over.

Maintenance

Commercial roofs collect dust, and some collect exhaust or construction debris. Cleaning and inspection need safe access and the isolation procedure the installer leaves with you.

Inverter alarms, loose connectors, and new shade from equipment added later should be reported. Do not open covers or bridge protection devices to keep a system running.

Commercial solar questions

Can you guarantee the return on investment?

No. Savings and payback depend on consumption, tariff, generation, and utility rules. This page does not state a fixed return.

Does every shop or hotel qualify?

No. The roof, the sanctioned load, and the connection have to suit the system. Some sites are better left unchanged.

What if we need power during an outage?

A standard on-grid system stops when the grid stops. Backup is a hybrid discussion, and the duration depends on the battery and the loads you choose.

Do housing societies use the same approach?

The common electrical connection and the common roof are reviewed the same way. Individual flats are not assumed to share one system unless the connection is actually common.
