Solar with limited backup

Hybrid solar

A hybrid system can use the sun, a battery, and the grid. It can support chosen loads during an outage. It cannot promise unlimited backup.

How a hybrid system works

Panels feed a hybrid inverter. The inverter supplies the building, can charge a battery, and can stay connected to the grid when the grid is healthy. Energy management inside the inverter decides, within the settings agreed at design, whether solar, battery, or grid power is used.

Those settings are not a promise that every appliance in the building will run. The backup output is planned for essential loads.

Equipment

  • Solar panels

The array is still limited by the roof, shade, and the electrical design.

  • Hybrid inverter

It manages solar, battery, and grid. It is a different device from a plain grid-tied inverter.

  • Battery storage

The battery stores energy for later use and for backup. Chemistry, size, and location are part of the quotation, not a default.

  • Grid integration

While the grid is present, the system can work with it. Import and any export still follow the connection and the distribution company.

Backup is limited

Backup duration depends on battery capacity and the connected load. A larger battery runs a given load for longer. The same battery runs out faster if more equipment is connected. Anvi Solar does not promise backup through an entire night, a season, or an undefined outage.

Essential load planning

  • Choose the backup loads

Lights, a fan, a router, or a selected machine may be on the backup side. The whole building usually is not.

  • Battery sizing

Sizing uses the energy those loads need and how long you want to cover. Daily use and outage backup are different questions.

  • Charging and discharging

The battery charges from solar and, where the design allows, from the grid. It discharges when solar is short or the grid is off. Repeated deep discharge shortens life. The operating window is set with that in mind.

Limitations and maintenance

A hybrid system does not remove the grid bill. Night loads and poor solar days still draw on the battery or the grid. The battery needs a suitable location, ventilation as the manufacturer requires, and protection from the design. It is not stored in a sealed hot loft as an afterthought.

Do not add extra appliances to the backup circuit after handover without asking. Do not open the inverter or the battery cabinet. Cleaning and visual checks follow the same safety limits as any rooftop system. Electrical faults go to a qualified person.

Hybrid solar questions

Will the whole house run in a power cut?

Only the loads connected to the backup side, and only while the battery can support them. It is not the whole house by default, and it is not unlimited.

How many hours of backup will I get?

Hours come from battery capacity divided by the load you connect, with losses and the battery's usable window. We calculate that for the site. This page does not state a number of hours.

Is a hybrid system the same as off-grid?

No. Hybrid systems are designed to work with the grid as well as a battery. Off-grid systems are not tied to the distribution network.

Can I increase the battery later?

Sometimes, if the inverter and the space allow a compatible addition. It is a design check, not a promise on this page.
